Upon first meeting Nik and Morgan, I knew I was going to love working with them. They are fun and full of life. Our first opportunity working together was with the engagement session in Lexington, Kentucky on a chilly late fall day. We walked through Transy and downtown as the rain teased and threatened to fall. Photo sessions can be a bit stressful, even with the best of weather, but they made the best of it, having fun, laughing together and sharing their love for me to capture. Months later they were married at the Olmsted in Louisville, Kentucky. Blessed by good weather, which is always a last minute answer in this beautiful bluegrass state. Morgan chose the perfect dress. Her make-up and hair was flawless. She came in with a sense of calm, knowing this day was going to be perfect.
The ceremony was held in the main foyer of the Olmsted, decorated eloquently. With all eyes on Morgan as she ascended down the hall, linked arm and arm with her father, Nik’s face told it all. It is always one of my favorite moments in the wedding. Maybe because I am taken back to my wedding and the way my husband looked at me. After the Ceremony I took the couple outside for family and individual photos as a newly married couple as guests enjoyed a cocktail hour.
The reception kicked off with a beautiful buffet of artistically plated food by Masterson’s, one of Louisville’s great catering companies. After the cake cutting the party began. Nik and Morgan’s ceremonial dances were followed by crowds of joyous dancers that sang and dances along with pure jubilation. As the evening came to an end, the attendees lined the beautiful staircase outside the building to create a tunnel of sparking lights to send off the couple. I am so happy to have been invited to capture the love between, great friends, family and one very lucky couple. Enjoy a few of the photos from their day.
